"Let us make our future now and let us make our dreams tomorrow’s reality." (Malala Yousafzai)
I have had a lot of beautiful days in my eleven years of being, but the one that stands out the most was the day I won a competition. I took an interest in scrabble after watching my sister play and ever since it has been my best sport.
My sister and I went for a scrabble competition four years ago, and sadly we lost. After the experience, I felt motivated and encouraged to prepare harder for the competition with my sister backing me up.
This year, we signed up for the competition again after years of practise. This time, we came out victorious! This great feat made me understand the meaning of the phrase "practice makes perfect". We brought victory to our church, and I thanked God for answering our prayers. Our church congratulated, prayed and gave us our medal. I was so happy that I didn’t know what to do or say and could not stop grinning.
Going home, my sister and I decided to prank out parents. We called them and gave them a false news. My mum comforted us, and we grinned mischievously knowing that she would be so happy when tell her the truth. On getting home, we announced the good news and my parents called for a celebration, it all felt like a good dream. I could not believe my eyes despite the years of hard work. I dreamt about this day for many years, and it finally came.
I could not stop saying this is the best day ever. I told my sister that if this day goes by, I would never forget about it. I told her how I felt it was a dream and then my sister turned to me with a proud smile saying, "This is not a dream. It is a result of all your practice and hardwork. It is the future you have been dreaming about. Relish in it and never forget how it feels. You are a champion."
Congratulations on your essay "Scrabble", Kanyisola. Such a motivational essay! Practise makes perfect, indeed! Thank you! Well done!
